About
Meet Courtney Engel, MS, OTR/L
Occupational Therapist and Owner
Hi there! I’m Courtney, a pediatric occupational therapist who is passionate about helping children and their families gain the skills and confidence they need for independence in their daily lives.
I received my Master of Science in Occupational Therapy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2017. After working for several years in outpatient settings, I started Rooted Together to provide a flexible option for therapy that takes place in a child’s natural environment and allows caregivers to be as involved as possible. Through this approach, my goal is to empower children and their families to incorporate what they learn in OT into their daily routines. I work with children of all ages to address therapy goals related to sensory processing, emotional regulation, and motor skills that are necessary for a child’s participation at home, school, and out in the community. I’m also a trained feeding therapist and have several years of experience working with children with a variety of feeding challenges. My practice is neurodiversity affirming and family-centered, with an emphasis on educating and supporting both the child and their caregivers throughout the therapy process.
Outside of my time as an OT, I love spending time with family, being outdoors, cooking, and playing with my sweet (and energetic) yellow lab. I’m so excited you’re here, and I can’t wait to grow together!

Testimonials
“Courtney has been a wonderful advocate for our entire family, and we cannot thank her enough for her patience, empathy, and OT knowledge”
“Courtney had such a positive impact on our family as a whole”
I cannot express my gratitude enough for how much Courtney has changed our lives. We did feeding therapy services for our son who ate a very limited amount of foods. He also has some sensory issues that contributed to his challenges with trying new foods. In such a short time, Courtney was able to break through a barrier that we could not have done on our own. Our son now enjoys a wide array of foods and has a much more well-rounded, healthy diet thanks to her expertise. We have also received parent coaching from Courtney to help us cope with certain situations outside of meal times that cause stress for our son due to his sensory issues. Courtney had such a positive impact on our family as a whole.

“She found ways to make practicing handwriting and other skills fun”
My son was initially nervous to start therapy sessions, but “Miss Courtney” quickly won him over. He soon looked forward to going to therapy every week and was genuinely disappointed if we couldn’t make a session. She found ways to make practicing handwriting and other skills fun, and her patient and positive demeanor encouraged him to keep trying when he felt discouraged. We saw significant improvement in his handwriting, ability to transition between tasks, and ability to identify and communicate his feelings after working with Courtney. She is highly recommended by our family!

“She emanated such warmth, patience and kindness to not only our son, but our entire family”
We came to work with Courtney after relocating, and I instantly felt so at ease. She emanated such warmth, patience and kindness all at once to not only our son, but our entire family. In time, she also came to be a great source of knowledge for us as we faced other parenting challenges. Her dedication to not only help my son but to educate me as his mother ultimately led to incredible progress in my son’s development. I can’t thank her enough for everything she did for our family. Courtney loves what she does and man oh man does it show!

“Courtney truly became a part of our family and our daughter loves her”
Our daughter worked with Courtney for 4 years. Over the years, we relied on Courtney for feeding therapy, emotional regulation, socializing, and teaching our daughter how to write her letters and numbers. Courtney was an incredible resource to us regarding fine motor skills, gross motor skills, emotional development, and anxiety issues as our daughter grew from a baby to a little girl. We even followed Courtney when she switched locations because we couldn’t imagine working with anyone better! She has been a wonderful advocate for our entire family and we cannot thank her enough for her patience, empathy, and OT knowledge. Courtney truly became a part of our family and our daughter loves her so much.
